Were You Aware?
The Daily Show's latest hilarious product, America (the book), parodies high school civics textbooks with features like discussion questions at the end of each chapter and little "Were You Aware?" factoid boxes like, "Plato did not originally want to call the Athenian form of citizen-government 'Democracy,' but rather, 'Plato 'n' Friends.'" On page 57 is a small unassuming "Were You Aware" box, claiming:
"The term 'Did You Know?' is copyrighted by a rival publisher."
On page 79, the end of the chapter on Congress, discussion question #6 is, "Remember that old Schoolhouse Rock cartoon about the bill who sings a song about how he becomes a law? Hey, and what about the Snorks? Remember them?" Next to this is a pencil sketch of a bill smoking a cigarette, with the caption,
"The ABC television network wanted an exorbitant sum of money ($1000) for use of a tiny postage-sized image of the 'Bill' from Schoolhouse Rock, forcing Daily Show writer Eric Drysdale to draw this virtual facsimile in less than five minutes. Drysdale was not compensated."
Only evil pirates have a problem with broader and broader copyright laws,

Hehe. Nice comedy. Oh, and it's a good point as well.
